Yannisatika House
Not many people know of the little hamlet of Yannisatika on Paxos and even fewer know of the beautiful Yannisatika House.
Just above the east coast, half way between Gaios and Loggos, sleepy Fontana village has two tavernas, a general store and a pharmacy. A narrow track leads from the village outskirts, through hillside olive groves to the large private grounds of Yannisatika House – a distance of about 700 metres away from the village.
This is a substantial property, hidden from the outside world by hillside terraces of olive and cypress trees.
The property’s inner sanctum of large stone verandahs, with cushioned areas for relaxing on all sides of the house, is bordered by gardens of scented plants, which descend to terraced olive groves.
From the House there are a few coastal houses visible in the distance but the immediate panorama is of valleys of olive groves. Across the sea are the mountains of the Greek mainland where, by night, village lights and the occasional passing ferry provide theatrical entertainment.
The House has all the modern comforts to satisfy the discerning guest but its owners have taken many years to create a more classical alternative to the typical holiday villa. Natural stone, Greek marble, soft pastel shades of ochre and raspberry, exposed cypress ceilings, ceiling fans, wooden shutters.
The swimming pool terrace has a pool house (fridge, freezer & sink). The pool has a swim-trainer at the deep end and jacuzzi jets at the shallow end.
Within this densely forested part of Paxos there are many ancient goat paths, which are still used to get from one hamlet to another.
Yannisatika House is a beautiful and totally private retreat. It is only available for the last three weeks of August.

Daily maid service and linen change twice per week. The maid will bring complimentary fresh bread and pastries each morning.
Location: car hire essential. Fontana is a drive of under 5 minutes. Loggos, with a more varied selection of tavernas, café bars, shops and boat hirers, is a drive of 10 minutes. Kaki Lagatha beach is a drive of 6 minutes and Kloni Gouli beach is 7 minutes.
Accommodation: entrance to first floor: sitting room; kitchen and dining area. Staircase down to one double bedroom and en suite shower room; two twin bedrooms (can convert to doubles and each bedroom has a third single bed); bathroom with shower. Staircase from first floor to master double bedroom and en suite bathroom with bath and shower.
