Hebe was the Greek Goddess of Youth.
Located on the east coast, just over 2 kilometres south of Gaios, Villa Hebe looks out through olive trees, across the sea to the Greek mainland and along Paxos’ coastline to the whitewashed walls of the old nunnery on Panagia island, opposite the entrance to Gaios harbour.
Hebe is just a 2 minute walk to flat bathing rocks below and there are a string of beaches and sheltered coves within a 5 minute walk, north towards the Paxos Beach Hotel and south towards Mongonisi Bay.
The villa is surrounded by terraces, bordered by colourful plants and olive trees, which provide privacy from a small number of villas in this area.
By night the twinkling lights of mountain villages on the Greek mainland are visible.
Private swimming pool (seawater): 8 x 4.5 metres & depth 0.60 – 1.60 metres
Maid service daily except Sundays & linen change twice weekly
Location: car hire useful but not essential. Gaios (a good selection of tavernas, shops and boat hire) is a drive of 5 minutes. Mongonisi (sandy beach, a taverna and a café bar) is under 1 kilometre away. Paxos Beach Hotel (tennis and restaurant) is 800 metres away. A hired boat can be moored in Mongonisi Bay.
Accommodation:
Open-plan sitting room, dining area and kitchen; one double bedroom and en suite bathroom with shower.
Facilities:
Most of the Paxos villas with pools were outside our budget so lucky to find Hebe and everything was brilliant!
We were glad that we opted for bikes and not a hire car - the ride into Gaios (and the other way to Mogonissi) is all on the flat so a doddle. And our favourite supermarket delivered to us.
Great beaches nearby.
I think when we booked this holiday Hebe was about the only small villa left on Paxos but I’ve got to say if we went again it would be my first choice.
The position was fantastic especially as we didn’t hire a car. Gaios one way, Mongonissi the other. We did try hiring a taxi one night but we soon learned it was quicker to walk.
Thought all the options for sitting out /sun-bathing were great - favourite, under the olive tree.
The villa itself had everything we needed - we were disappointed not to get round to the barbecue before we left - simply ran out of time.
As well as the pool, the two bays, virtually on the doorstep, meant you had a change of scenery for your swim and there were never more than two or three people there when we went down.
Also good time of year to go - in Gaios busy but not packed. Enjoyed the bus trip up to Lakka and the Blue Caves on the west coast.
I don’t think we’ll be in the market for another holiday on Paxos next year but I’d definitely recommend Hebe especially in September. Don’t think a week- long break could be much more relaxing.
