Lithari
We feel that Villa Lithari is worthy of all the over-used travel brochure superlatives and that it is one of the finest properties on Paxos.
With large private grounds of hillside terraces above the ancient Mouzmouli water cistern and surrounded by a natural landscape of cypress, olive and pine trees, Villa Lithari has a theatrical location.
The west coast of Paxos has diverse views, all of which are dramatic. Lithari’s views are exceedingly dramatic. From the swimming pool terrace one looks along the coast of swirling rock formations and across the sea to the tip of AntiPaxos. From all the private terraces there are big, uninterrupted, panoramic views out to sea. Sunsets are the starring act of Lithari's theatre.
Swimming in the pool gives the sensation of floating on the sea.
Below the villa is a small creek with bathing rocks. A pathway leads to the creek, from the top of the villa’s entrance driveway – a walk of 10 minutes. Avlaki beach is a walk of 15 minutes.
The villa has taken 2 years to be completed. Furniture, fabrics and fittings have come from different parts of Greece to provide comfort and individuality.
Lithari means “grinding stone” in Greek. The white Paxiot stone, used throughout the villa’s interiors and exteriors, turns a soft orange as the sun sets.

Location: car hire recommended. The villa is reached via a bumpy track of ½ kilometre from the tiny village of Velianitatika, which has a supermarket and just outside the village, a local taverna. Gaios is a 5 minute drive. The surrounding area contains many ancient pathways for west coast walks through olive groves.
Accommodation: main house has a ground floor of a sitting room; kitchen and dining area; one double bedroom (can be converted to a twin) and en suite bathroom; utility room with washing machine. Staircase to master double bedroom. External access via a small flight of steps to a poolside suite of a double bedroom (can be converted to a twin) and en suite bathroom; sitting area; kitchen and dining area.
