Gaios Spitaki
Gaios is the capital village of Paxos – intimate and colourful, its main square has a waterfront which continues around the sheltered harbour and is lined with pastel-coloured Venetian houses, small bars and tavernas.
Excursion boats from Corfu arrive daily to fill the narrow, pedestrianised village lanes with visitors for a few midday hours. Otherwise the atmosphere is sleepy and waterfront activity centres around the arrival of yachts, local fishing boats and small hire boats – an enjoyable theatre viewed from a shaded waterfront bar.
Gaios Spitaki is just a 2-minute walk away from the Gaios waterfront, reached via a narrow pedestrianised street leading to a small square, bordered by just a few village houses and dripping with crimson bougainvillaea. Close to village life but with a private and peaceful courtyard to be alone.
Gaios is the capital village of Paxos – intimate and colourful, its main square has a waterfront which continues around the sheltered harbour and is lined with pastel-coloured Venetian houses, small bars and tavernas. The main square is also a 2-minute walk away, past the village fish shop, bakery, wine shop and two churches.
A hired boat can be moored a few minutes’ walk away (to explore the island’s coastline) and the nearest beach is an 8 minute walk.
We consider Gaios Spitaki to be one of the prettiest and most comfortable houses in Gaios.
Maid service and linen change twice weekly.
Location: car hire not needed unless wanting to be out & about each day. Just a 2 minute walk to the main square of Gaios. Speedboats depart every half hour from the square to reach the sandy beaches of AntiPaxos – or one can take a hired boat across – a journey of around 20 minutes.
