Avra
Villa Avra has one of the most dramatic views over Lakka Bay.
A stepped pathway (uneven in parts so possibly a challenge for those with a mobility problem) leads from the villa to Lakka waterfront, skirting a beach and olive groves, in just 10 minutes. The beach below, and a small taverna, is just a 3-minute walk away. The olive grove path has a string of lights from tree to tree so that the walk by night is made easy.
A narrow car track leads from Lakka, up a hillside of olive groves towards the lighthouse on the west coast. Three quarters of a kilometre up this track are the private grounds of Avra.
The owner, Yannis, is a local carpenter and the finishing of the interiors is to a high standard. A modern kitchen, spacious bedrooms and large en suite wet rooms.
The villa has privacy. Yannis and his wife, Voula, live quietly on a lower hillside terrace but Avra does not overlook them and they do not overlook Avra.
A large poolside terrace provides for both sun and shade - a pergola covers the dining area. A barbecue area includes a sink.
Avra looks down to the clear turquoise sea of Lakka Bay. The views take in the mountains of the Greek mainland.
