Aphaea
Hidden on a hilltop of pine and cypress trees, above a small beach, one bay before Mogonisi Bay, Aphaea is a swish and exceedingly comfortable retreat.
The interiors are modern and spacious, with large balconies and terraces to enjoy the dramatic sea views.
Aphaea consists of two villas and a 22 metre length pool. Both villas, taken together, will sleep 22 people (extra beds can be arranged for a few more). It is possible however, to book just one villa and then the other villa remains unoccupied.
Private grounds of 3,000 square metres are enclosed by stone walls and electrically operated gates. Hillside terraces combine different levels of olive groves with sitting and relaxing areas to be together or alone.
The pool terraces have a pool bar (with fridge & music system) and large cushioned areas. Stepped pathways lead up to terraces, shaded by olive trees and bordered by fragrant Mediterranean plants. On the top terrace, an elaborate outside kitchen and barbecue area offers the best views.
The villas look out north across the sea to the mountains of the Greek mainland and south to the entrance to Mogonisi Bay and beyond to the cliffs of neighbouring AntiPaxos.
This special location allows one to follow the slow progress of local fishing boats and the arrival of yachts and ferries from other Ionian islands. By night there is a theatre of twinkling lights from the mountain villages on the mainland.
The walk to the Mogonisi beach (sandy) and tavernas takes about 15 minutes (or a drive of 3 minutes). With a hired boat, moored in Mogonisi Bay, one can reach the sandy beaches of AntiPaxos in 15 minutes. Beaches along the coastline towards Gaios are within walking distance – the nearest, just below, is a 3 minute walk away.

Location: car hire recommended for ease of access to all parts of Paxos. Boat hire recommended for coastal exploration. Theo’s Taverna and Carnayo Gold café bar in Mogonisi Bay are a walk of 15 minutes. Gaios, with its excellent choice of shops, mini-markets and tavernas, is about 3 kilometres.
Accommodation: Aphaea 1 has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms; Aphaea 2 has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
Aphaea 1: Lower level of 2 double bedrooms and 2 bedrooms each with a large single bed plus a single sofa bed (each bedroom has an en suite bathroom); utility room with washing machines and dryers plus extra fridge & freezer. Ground floor of an open-plan sitting room (with one armchair bed), dining area and kitchen; one bedroom with large single bed plus a single sofa bed; bathroom with shower. First floor of a master double bedroom with en suite bathroom, sitting area and dressing room.
Aphaea 2: Lower level of 2 double bedrooms and 1 bedroom with a large single bed (all 3 bedrooms have an en suite bathroom); kitchen and dining area; utility room with washing machines and dryers. Ground floor of an open-plan sitting room, dining area and kitchen; one bedroom with a large single bed; bathroom with shower. First floor of a master double bedroom with en suite bathroom and sitting area (with double sofa bed).

For bookings within 9th August to 6th September period, both villas must be rented and the prices reflect this.
