On an island as small as Paxos, wherever you stay you are never more than a 10 minute drive to a village or a beach.
This applies to Villa Elina but its totally private and secluded location gives the wonderful feeling of total escape.
Up in the hills above Lakka a cluster of small hamlets hide away amongst ancient olive groves and pine forest. Vassilatika is one of these hamlets and was once a safe retreat for local families hoping to evade 18th Century pirates but is now deserted apart from a few recently converted houses.
Villa Elina is a 100 year old stone house, set on an olive grove terrace just below the arched entrance to Vassilatika village. It has been brought compassionately into the 21st Century and provides an exceedingly comfortable retreat.
Elina has peaceful seclusion and wonderful views over a valley of olive grove terraces and across the sea to the south west coastline of Corfu and the mountains of the Greek mainland.
From Vassilatika there are many ancient (and largely untrodden) footpaths leading to other hamlets above Lakka, the church and campanile of Ipapandi and up to the west coast.

Location: car hire recommended. Lakka is 2 kilometres away and has a good selection of tavernas, shops and boat hire. Beaches within Lakka Bay and nearby Lighthouse beach.
Accommodation: an open-plan sitting room with sofa bed, dining area and kitchen; one double bedroom and en suite shower room; one twin bedroom (can convert to a double) with an adjacent shower room.

As we know, Paxos can be busy in August so Elina's peaceful seclusion was perfect - and easy to get down to a bustling waterfront, where we had our hire boat.

First of all, I want to say - wow! What an amazing villa. Villa Elina was perfect. Secluded, amazing views, beautiful house, superb pool surrounded by beautiful olive trees. The house had everything we needed, really well kitted out and the cleaner was fantastic too. Great touches with fantastic towel shape arrangements (fishes and sweets!) and left the place really sparkling - even mopped the floors the place was super clean. We also loved the gifts (olive oil, honey and soap) although I fear I may have accidentally left the soap by accident in the midst of quickly packing! I will see if it turns up in the coming days in my unpacking. Please pass on these compliments to the villa owner too.
