Vassiliko
The sheltered port and large bay of Vassiliki lies at the southern tip of Lefkas.
A leafy waterfront of tavernas and café bars leads to the ferry point for Kefalonia and Ithaca at one end and at the other … a long sandy beach.
Behind and to the sides of the port are hillsides of olive groves, pasture land, pine and cypress copses.
A deep valley cuts through the hillsides towards the beach. Warm katabatic winds flow down the valley for a few afternoon hours to create excellent windsurfing and dinghy sailing conditions within the bay. Along the beach there are 4 watersports centres.
Beautiful sandy beaches on the west coast are not far away.
To the side of this valley, on a hillside one kilometre inland from Vassiliki beach, are 3 individual and private villas. Each villa is named after the wild herbs found on the hillside terraces and grown in the villas' gardens.
Villa Vassiliko (Basil) is built like a stone “castle” tower.
Vassiliko has a panoramic view of Vassiliki Bay and the surrounding hillsides. The dramatic views extend past the bay to the neighbouring islands of Ithaca and Kefalonia.
By day one can watch the sailing and boating activities within the bay and by night there is a theatre of twinkling waterfront lights.
Comfortably furnished interiors open out on to terraces and grass lawns with plenty of shaded areas for relaxing out of the sun.
Private swimming pool 6 x 6 metres & depth 1.70 metres plus semi circular children's pool (0.80 metres depth)
Maid service and linen change twice weekly.
Location: car hire recommended. Vassiliki, a drive of under 5 minutes, has many tavernas and cafe bars shaded by eucalyptus trees on the waterfront. The backstreets hold a good choice of supermarkets, bakeries and grocery stores. Ferries depart from Vassiliki to Ithaca (Frikes) and Cephalonia (Fiscardo). Apart from Vassiliki beach, other sandy beaches can be found at Porto Katsiki (15 minutes drive) and Egremni (20 minutes).
