Above the sandy beaches of the south coast, in the foothills of Mount Aenos, there are many hillside hamlets separated by large swathes of olive groves and farmland.

On the borders of two of these hamlets, Poriarata and Moussata, hides a 32-acre private estate. The private grounds contain a large and ancient olive grove and an early 19th Century olive press, which has been fully restored by the owner, whose family has occupied the estate since the 15th Century.

Adjacent to the estate and the olive press, bordered by established trees and shrubs to ensure total privacy, is Olivestone, which has been brought into the 21st Century carefully and stylishly.

Olivestone is a private, secluded and peaceful hideaway for those wanting a special escape from a busy world outside.

Aesthetically, the house and gardens have flavours, colours and styles from different parts of southern Europe.

Spacious interiors open out on to balconies and terraces, bordered by lawns, with dramatic views over the coastal plains of olive groves and cypress copses to the Ionian Sea.

The services of Yolanda, Olivestone’s cook and caretaker for the last 8 years, are included in the rental price. She will prepare breakfast, snacks and one main meal each day with one day off. Yolanda will do the shopping but the cost of the provisions plus 180 Euros per week (car fuel & time) is paid by guests locally.

Location: car hire recommended to explore this diverse island. The nearest taverna and minimarket are a 10 minute walk away. Trapezaki beach is 1.5 kilometres. There are many more sandy beaches, tavernas and village shops within a 5-10 minute drive. The airport is 10 kilometres.

Accommodation:

Ground floor of an open-plan sitting room, dining area and kitchen; one double bedroom and separate bathroom; one twin bedroom and en suite bathroom. First floor of one double bedroom and one twin bedroom; bathroom. Lower ground floor (with separate entrance) of one double/twin bedroom and en suite bathroom; sitting area.

The prices shown are for use of the ground and first floors (2-8 people). The lower ground floor will be unoccupied. Please ask us for prices for use of the whole house (9-10 people).

The owner asks for a security deposit of 1200 Euros and a 200 Euro per week service fee which is payable to Yolanda (the cook) to cover her shopping service, car fuel & any extra non house working hours.
