On a west-facing hillside above Kefalonia's northern coast, just a 10 minute drive away from the pretty port of Fiscardo, the tiny hamlet of Markandonata gets stunning sunset views across olive groves and cypress forest to the Ionian Sea.
Villa Roumbini is on a hillside terrace below Villa Frappa. The villa looks out over goat pastures, a panorama of olive groves and then the sea towards Ithaca.
An ancient stone footpath runs along the side of the house - a 10 minute walk to the little hamlet of Antipata with its traditional taverna and Italian wine bar. In this area there are many goat paths and trails leading to other hillside hamlets and beaches such as Dafnoudi, Kimilia, Alaties and Emblissi.

We simply loved it Alex. We made absolutely the right decision to choose that villa over one in Assos. We loved the rustic isolation, the stunning mature olive grove & the walk through ruined villages to Dafnoudi Beach. Once we got over laughing about the noise of goats bells as they grazed around us in the early hours & the noise of tearing grass as they chomped away…However, for us, it added to the charm rather than detracted.
Maria couldn’t have been more helpful & pleasant to deal with & likewise yourself.
The decor was charming & had some rustic authenticity unlike many of these generic modern villas.
We loved the natural swimming pool, which although relatively small & narrow proved ample for refreshing dips for the kids.
