Spartia Retreat has total privacy and is surrounded by 5 acres of beautiful, extensive gardens just inland from the seaside villages of Spartia and Pessada on Kefalonia’s south coast.

The estate has its own vineyard, which produces a very pleasant Merlot.

The estate’s gardens hold a rich variety of colours and scents from different parts of the world: orchards of orange and lemon trees, fig, apricot, pear, pomegranate, quince, cherry, walnut and almond trees; palm trees, plane trees, eucalyptus, juniper, several species of cedar, mulberry and oak; oleander, hybrid tea roses, hibiscus, bougainvillaea and jasmine.

The Retreat’s large terraces look down to the 90 square metre swimming pool, surrounded by lawns, and over a natural landscape of olive groves and cypress trees. The views take in the large bay of Lourdas and the foothills of Mount Aenos. Across the sea, the island of Zakynthos is visible.

Sunsets are dramatic and the roof terrace has 360 degree views.

Spartia Retreat will appeal to those looking for a total escape from the world outside but with the many sandy beaches of the south coast close at hand.

The main residence has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. The ground floor has 3 bedroom suites. The property can be rented as a whole or just the main residence (on which occasions the lower floor will remain empty).

Maid service 6 days per week and linen change twice weekly

Location: car hire recommended. Spartia village with its sandy beach is just a 5 minute drive. Argostoli, the island’s capital town is a 20 minute drive. Between Spartia and Argostoli there are many large and small sandy beaches. The village of Spartia has 2 minimarkets and 2 tavernas. Just above Spartia’s sandy beach there are 2 more tavernas, specialising in locally caught fish. There are many more tavernas and supermarkets along the south coast. Nearby Pessada port has a ferry connection to Zakynthos – let us know if you like the idea of a combined Zakynthos and Kefalonia holiday.

Accommodation:

The property has 3 floors. Entrance to the main residence is via a set of steps to the first floor: open-plan living room and dining area; kitchen; one double bedroom; shower room. Stairs up to second floor: 2 double bedrooms and one twin bedroom (can convert to double bed); 2 shower rooms; master double bedroom and en suite bathroom. External access to ground floor of two suites each with double bedroom, shower room and kitchen/sitting area; one suite with double bedroom, shower room and kitchen/sitting area (double sofa bed). Each suite has its own external access. 
Poolside “gazebo” with sitting area, kitchen and dining area with ceiling fan.
