The village of Stavros is in the north part of Ithaca and overlooks the island’s west coast. A narrow road winds its way down from the village to a beach within Poli Bay. A 5 minute walk above the beach is Poli Bay House.

The house is spacious, furnished to a high standard of comfort and has large terraces to enjoy the incredible views, which take in the surrounding hillsides of olive groves, the beach and fishermen’s jetty and across the sea to the north east coast of Kefalonia. Sunsets are theatrical.

There is talk of an ancient, submerged city below the waters of Poli Bay. Across the water, close to Kefalonia’s shoreline just outside Fiscardo, a rocky islet resembles a long boat and is said to be the returning Phaeacians, who were turned to stone by Poseidon after Odysseus’ return to Ithaca in Homer’s tales.

Poli Bay House was built as two separate apartments with a shared pool but for the sake of total privacy, it is now offered as one villa with two floors.

Location: car hire recommended to explore the island. The beach below is a 5 minute stroll – here there are sunbeds and boats with outboards for hire – in the high summer months a cantina serves fresh fish snacks and drinks. Stavros is a drive of 2 minutes and has 4 tavernas, a supermarket, a butcher, a bakery, a pharmacy, a grocery store and several café bars. Agios Yannis beach is a drive of 10 minutes as is the little port of Frikes.

Accommodation: two floors, each with an external front access and each with the same accommodation of two double bedrooms and en suite shower rooms; open-plan sitting room, dining area and kitchen.
