Homer wrote that when the Phaeacians returned Odysseus to Ithaca, he hid their gifts in the Cave of the Nymphs. It is believed by many that this cave is the Marmaro Spilia (Marble Cave), which is to be found 500 metres away from Villa Calypso, 2.5 kilometres north of Vathy.

Villa Hermes has total privacy within large private grounds of hillside terraces, filled with olive groves; fig, pear, apricot, pomegranate, lemon and plum trees and vineyards. Calypso guests are able to pick for their daily needs. Wild herbs such as oregano, thyme and spearmint, line the nearby goat paths.

Hermes’ sister villa, Calypso, is hidden from view about 50 metres away.

The views take in a beautiful coastal landscape of olive groves, the large bays of Aetos and Dexa and Ithaca's Mount Neritos. Only one or two houses can be seen in the far distance and the surrounding hillside is pastoral peace personified.

There are a good selection of beaches on both east and west coasts – all within a 10 minute drive. The nearest, in Dexa Bay, is under 2 kilometres away.

For lovers of seclusion, tranquillity, dramatic sea views and hillside walks, Hermes will provide a special retreat.

Ground floor of open-plan sitting room with sofa bed, dining area and kitchen. First floor of one double bedroom and one twin bedroom; bathroom with bath and shower.
