Villa Mavrouna is set below a cluster of houses in the hilltop hamlet of Rachi, above the pretty port of Kioni. The house has spectacular views down to Mavrouna Bay below and across the sea to the islands of Lefkas, Atokos, Kastos and Arkoudi and the Greek mainland.
A track leads down to the beach and sheltered bay of Mavrounas.
The sleepy hamlet of Rachi has a small general store. Mavrounas beach, below the house, is a walk of about 5 minutes and here there is a jetty beside the fishermen’s church of Agios Nicholas.
Private swimming pool 5 x 4 metres & depth 1.1 - 1.6 metres
Maid service twice weekly and linen change once weekly.
Location: car hire recommended but not essential. The walk down to Kioni waterfront (4 tavernas, a minimarket and boat hire) follows a path through a valley of olive groves and takes 20 minutes but a drive of under 5 minutes down a winding road.
Accommodation:
Ground floor of open-plan sitting room, dining area and kitchen; one double bedroom; bathroom with bath & shower. Staircase up to two twin bedrooms; cloakroom.
Facilities:
We felt incredibly lucky to have got away in the current situation. We loved being so close to Mavrouna Beach to swim every day, watch the sunrise, the sunset and the fishermen heading off each day.
We became frequent visitors to the Cantina at Rachi (Christos, his sister and mum) made us feel very welcome. If you get the opportunity please thank them from us, as they made our stay that extra bit special.
You are right about your description of Kioni as "sleepy" - we relaxed immediately and were welcomed by every local we met.
Mavrouna was all we'd hoped for and I have captured many photos of the ever-changing views.
