In Greek mythology, Thoosa was a sea nymph and mother of Polyphemus.
Giorgos, the owner of Villa Thoosa, first considered buying the plot of land where Thoosa now sits in 2010 when he negotiated his way through a wilderness of thorny scrub to the sea below. Perched on a waterside rock, a giant Monachus monachus seal emerged from the sea, smiled at him and then disappeared. The decision was made to buy the plot of 10 acres.
The plot is a hillside promontory above the sea just outside the port of Agios Nikolaos on Zakynthos’ north east coast.
Thoosa is one of 6 villas built by Giorgos. Each villa has its own private terraces and gardens to ensure an individual feeling of privacy and independence. The grounds of each villa are divided by hillside terraces of olive trees, rows of grape vines and wild myrtle, pine and cypress trees.
Each villa’s TV is linked to an underwater camera (situated close to where Giorgos met the seal) for those who want to search for seals and starfish from their armchair.
Villa Thoosa has traditional island interiors of stone and wood with high standards of modern comfort. Spacious rooms open out on to large terraces with powerful views along the coastline and across the sea to Kefalonia.
A stepped pathway leads down to the sea below where private kayaks are kept for exploring the nearby sea caves.
The villa is equipped with snorkelling equipment, fishing tackle and binoculars.
A welcome pack on arrival contains wine, olive oil, fresh fruit, seasonal vegetables, olives and herbs – all grown organically on the estate.
Private swimming pool with hydro massage section: 30 sq metres & depth 1.40 metres
Maid service & linen change once weekly (extra service provided on request)
