15 kilometres north of Corfu Town is the village of Pirgi and the start of the sought-after North East coastline. After passing the coastal resort of Ipsos, a long stretch of beach and a string of café bars, tavernas and shops a small road leads inland from Pirgi. Just 1 kilometre away is the beautiful heritage village of Agios Markos.
Agios Markos has preserved its elegant Venetian heritage: tiled rooftops, weathered bell towers, stone balconies lined with potted plants and a welcoming lack of neon, noise and nightclubs. Only a handful of the village properties are inhabited.
One of the village’s chapels contains fragments of a wall-painting dated 1075.
In Greek, Perivoli is a word to describe a lush garden. Perivoli, the house, is a 300 year old property which has been given the modern comforts of the 21st Century but retains the architecture and colours of its previous life.
Considered as a possible venue for the shooting of the Durrells TV programme, Perivoli’s peaceful and private south facing hillside position provides dramatic views over a sweeping natural landscape of olive groves, punctuated by tall cypress trees, and along the coastline towards Corfu Town and its fortress.
The 2 acres of private gardens have been sculpted into many shapes and colours. Poolside rose and palm borders look up to arched terraces of crimson bougainvillaea and lead to orchards of orange, lemon, avocado, pear, apple, plum, grapefruit and a private olive grove.
The beaches of the east coast are a short distance away. Perivoli will appeal to those wanting a special escape from the world outside.
Ipsos beach and mini "resort" is 1 kilometre away - making Perivoli an ideal choice for families with teenage children.

Location: car hire recommended. The nearest taverna is a 5 minute walk away. Ipsos (I kilometre) has a varied selection of tavernas, supermarkets and shops. Boat hire can be found nearby for lazy afternoons discovering the many north east bays, coves and beachfront tavernas. Beautiful walks around the surrounding villages and countryside.

On the other side of the swimming pool the Guest House has a ground floor of an open-plan sitting room, dining area and kitchen; cloakroom. First floor of one double bedroom (air-con) and a small double bedroom (air-con); bathroom with corner bath and shower.
The prices shown are for the main house only, except for bookings within 8th July to 1st September when the price is for both main and guest house. There is a supplement of £1,000 per week for use of the guest house outside 8th July to 1st September. If the guest house is not required then it will remain unoccupied.
