Just behind the pretty port of Fiscardo, pine and cypress-forested hillsides hide a handful of tiny hamlets. Ancient pathways connect the hamlets with Fiscardo and provide walkers with dramatic scenery and views.
Psilithrias was the largest hamlet but is now deserted. The houses are ruins but the remains of grand entrances are evidence of a prosperous life in bygone years.
About 500 metres away from Fiscardo, set back from one of the ancient pathways leading to Psilithrias, is Fioroula’s House. Although only a 5-minute walk into Fiscardo, the house has peaceful seclusion and total privacy.
Fioroula’s terraces look out over the surrounding forest, the rooftops of Fiscardo houses and across the sea to the island of Ithaca. When the sun sets behind Fioroula, the cliffs of Ithaca turn pink.
Maid service & linen change twice weekly
Location: car hire not necessary but useful to explore this very diverse island. The waterfront tavernas, shops, bars and boat hire of Fiscardo are a short stroll away. Elies beach is the closest beach to Fiscardo (a 10-minte walk from Fioroula) and the beaches of Foki and Emblissi are each 1.5 kilometres away.
